What Habits Are Causing You Problems?

For me it’s been my desperate attempt to obtain a healthy lifestyle.

Today marks my 57th consecutive day of exercise.  This may not seem like much to many, but for Meshell this is HUGE!  And I am so very proud of me!  There was a time I could not remember doing anything consistently just for me.  And now I’m making myself a priority. ❤

Recently I discovered some amazing truths about myself and most people that rocked my world!  Did you know you are simply the sum total of your habits?  And that wanting anything outside your zone of comfort and changing your life requires changing your habits?  If you knew and are living an empowered life of incredible habits, hats off to your Awesomeness!!  And if you’re like me, you have some pesky habits you’d love to put on the firing line.

So, what exactly is a habit?  A habit is a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously (neural pathways).  Old habits are hard to break, and new habits are hard to form because the behavioral patterns which we repeat become imprinted (embedded) in our subconscious, but it is possible to form new habits through repetition.  Basically, any persistent consistent action will become a habit.

Now a Meshell H.A.B.I.T. Acronym:

  • Healthy
  • Adjustments in
  • Behaviors
  • Invested over
  • Time

Again, if you’re like me, you have habits that you desperately want to conquer.  Things that haunt and hinder you from being your absolute best.  There was a time when my behaviors and habits did not serve my vision and capability of an amazing life.  Things like eat sugary or fatty foods…every day.  Watch TV…every day.  Extended periods of sitting…EVERYDAY!  And these are just a few….:-)) And this would be okay if I did not aspire to achieve the best and go higher.

And how did I get on a path of persistent consistence?  I’ve been blessed to find tools, guidance and support of an Amazing group of people.  Having a wonderful life requires wonderful habits.  Amazing models of your desired success. And being surrounded by people that lovingly support and hold you accountable to the vision you have for your future.  As I write this blog I am bursting with the optimistic promise that I am living my absolute best life and it’s only going to get better!

Oh yeah, the New York City Marathon!  That has been a dream of mine since I lived on the marathon route in Harlem, NY in 1996.  Living a half block from the route, I’d watch the race on TV until they were close to my block and I’d run out and watch the lead runners go by.  I stood curbside dazed and amazed.  My heart has beckoned me for far too long.  So this year on November 5, 2018 – I will run in the New York City Marathon and give my heart the present she greatly desires!❤   My marathon models are Sister Madonna Buder and Lew Hollander both are AMAZING 87 year old runners!!
